fur trend

Hello Fashionistas!
If you have been following the fashion magazines or the ads, you will notice Fur is In!  What will it be for you?  Fur coat, vest, cape, scarf, boot toppers, etc???
If you are like myself, I will not be adding anything fur that adds too much bulk.  I am really liking the fur boot toppers or a scarf.
I would love to see your favorite fur piece of the season.  It's the trend, so a touch would keep you in style.  What will it be for you?

Fall is around the corner~Enjoy these beautiful days!   Debbie

white teeth

On prior blogs, I've talked about your first impression or your 5 second visual resume.  So what does the approaching person see after your outfit~A Big Smile?  Is your big smile, pearly white?  Are your teeth clean?  Is your breath offensive?  All these questions are things that the person standing by you or talking with you are noticing.

It's true!  A smile is worth 1000 words.  It can make a person's day.  It can give a lift to a person that is having a bad bad.

With all the available whiteners on the market, everyone can have that big Pearly white smile!  Invest in yourself!  You will love the smile that you see coming back to you in the mirror and so will the person passing by.

Smile Today and make someone's day a little brighter!

Body Shapes

Do you know your body shape?  If you do, it will make shopping for your clothing much easier and there will be less clothing sitting in your closet unworn.

Let's start with-
The Rectangle or the "b" body~
Shoulders and hips are the same width
Gains weight in the belly
Straight through the waist or muffin top
Flat behind

The Oval body or the "O" body~
Large busted
Rounded on top, bust, and upper mid section
Fuller figured
Nice legs
Usually size 14 and up

The Triangle or "d" body~
Shoulders are smaller than hips
Narrow waist
Small busted
Gains weight in the behind, hips, and thighs

The Hourglass or "X" body
Shoulders and hips are same width
Narrow waist
Gains weight evenly all over
Balanced proportions

Do you know which body type you are?  Now, you want to embrace your assets and camouflage your least favorite areas.

When shopping with me at my Trunk shows, we will do just that.  It is better to spend a little more and love how you look in your clothing.  Versus, buying several inexpensive pieces and letting them sit in your closet or worse yet, not looking good in them.

Wearing the right clothing for your body, the right color for your skin, will put a spring in your step.  People will think you have lost weight and look younger.

My upcoming Trunk show is August 26-30 for Fall.  Schedule your appointment!  Visit~

Easy the hot & humid days of summer, while they last.

lipstick

Today, let's talk about lipstick.  A medium pink lipstick is the most youthful color to wear.  And, if you have "warm" features, go with a a peachy/brown undertone shade of lipstick (in the medium tone family).  Red is too hard for almost all women and a too light of shade will make us looked washed out (it is only for the really young gals).  Give it a try and see how you feel in the different colors and shades.

skirt length

Want to know what the length of your skirt should be?  Your skirt should either hit just above the knee or just below (and anywhere in between).  If your skirt comes down into the calf area, that is one of the largest parts of the leg and it will make your legs look larger.  It also is a more dumpy look.  Beware of some of the new skirt trend lengths!

First Look

I think today it is appropriate to talk about seeing ones face before you see the clothing.  Today, Kate's dress was a good example of that.  Kate's dress did not steal away from her face.  You saw her beautiful face first, then you saw her dress.

When picking out an outfit, put it on, stand back and look in the mirror.  Close your eyes and then open them. What did you see first? Clothing or you?  If  the print in your clothing is overwhelming, you are going to see the pattern first and then your face.  Same with the proportion of your outfit.  If your proportions are off~you will see the outfit first.

The size and shapes of the print in your jacket or shirt should match the features and size of the features in your face.

Notice the clothing in your closet that you are not wearing, maybe that may be the reason.

Nude shoes

Nude shoes are a must have for this Spring/Summer season!  They will elongate your legs and take the focus off of your feet and put it on you and your clothing.  Personal favorite~Cole Haan's Nike Air pump in patent leather.

Bold Colors for Spring

Just because we are seeing alot of bold colors and prints for Spring, doesn't mean that they are right for everyone.  Many times too bold of colors can make us look older, drawing attend to lines around our mouth and lines and dark circles around our eyes.  Prints in clothing should match the size of your fascial features.

Start with the underlayer

We all want to look good in our clothing, correct?  And, have a polished smooth finish, right?
You must start with good underclothing.  If you haven't had a bra fitting in awhile.  It is a must!  You don't want one that digs in and gives you lines or extra skin hanging over.  I personally love the bra-llelujah made by Spanx (especially for tee shirt type fabric).  They are very comfortable, too. (available at Nordstroms) Then, the same with your underpansies~no lines!  Hanky Panky's are my favorite!  Then,  I have to tell you about "Assets" sold at Target.  They have an undershirt that is rouched in the bust area (very stretchy fabric-so the girls don't get smashed), the fabric in the torso area is tight (but not too) and it smooths out the "love handles" and then it is double fabric'd and tight in the stomach area.  I love these!  I wear them for extra warmth in the winter, too.  And, the best thing~they only cost $24.99  I tell all my Etcetera customers about them!
